Munich-based artist and stage designer Stefan Britze realized an impressing stage concept for the release party of COLUMBUS’ “Schwarzes Gold”.
It perfectly refers to the songs source of inspiration – „Schwarzes Gold“ was written in 2010 and inspired by the incident in the gulf of Mexico. When Deepwater Horizon sank – making way for the greatest oil spill disaster in history, a clash between technological destructiveness and the vulnerability of the environment became evident.
Therefor Britze made the stage look like drowning in a vast bulk of slimy oil that is leaking from the ceiling – creating the perfect illusion of a black nothing expanding into the room – connecting the artists with their audience.
The overwhelming looks were intensified by multicolor light projections and not least by the huge 3 dimensional COLUMBUS icon protruding from the gleaming mass.
